Phono cartridges are generally used to improve sound quality by converting an electrical signal into an acoustic one. They’re also used to reduce the volume of an amplifier or speaker to make them louder.
The way they do this is by using a stylus or a needle to pick up the signal and send it directly to a coil of wire inside the cartridge. It works by transforming the electrical signal into a magnetic field, and then sending it to the coil.
The coil then sends the magnetic signal to the magnetic field of the cartridge, and converts it into an acoustic signal.

What is P-mount phono cartridge?
Cartridges with four terminals at the back just plug into the end of the tonearm.

Are ceramic or magnetic cartridges better?
Magnetic cartridges are easier to turn than ceramic, so they require less force pressing down to navigate the grooves.
The sound is less powerful than with ceramic cartridges which means at some point in your system you will need to use a preamplifier.
Are all turntable Headshells universal?
The headshells are not universal. Some turntable manufacturers will use different tonearms and different mounting plates for their turntables.
Will any cartridge fit any turntable?
In short, the record cartridges do not fit the turntables.
In order to figure out which type of cartridge you have, you need to know what brand of printer your system uses. For this, look at the headshell and check the model number.
How do I know if my turntable is MM or MC?
Be careful to look for the presence of an ink cartridge in the stylus.
If the turntable has a replaceable stylus, you can replace the needle.
Finally, it’s most likely an MM cartridge. However, if it has a fixed stylus, it’s an MC cartridge.
